Alternative miss world: Inspiration

With my idea of making armour that looks natural like its from a animal. This made me think of the game Monster Hunter. In which you kill giant monsters and use their bodies to forge armour from.I am going to continue with the idea of making a giant centipede back piece/ cloak. But for the rest of the armour I'm going to base the piece of different animals/ monsters. For example I'm thinking of making Shark fin gauntlet.

Alternative miss world costume update 20/1/16

Made chest armour piece and been trying to creative a weird almost organic texture to the armour. I used tissue paper and spray adhesive. Didn't work as well as i wanted so Ive gone over it with paint to strengthen it. Need to do a couple of coats before i go over it with the final details of the black and purple.

I have created a mask. I used a head cast of myself to mould from, so that its would fit nicely. Just need to do add strap.

I have finished 90% of Centipede back piece base, just need to glue and put wire in before latexing. i have done a test piece seeing if latex would work on cartage paper and the results were pleasing. The Latex sticks and doesn't misshapen the form. This means i can go forward with using latex on the centipede. Ive asked around to see what people thought of my test piece and everyone agreed it would look good and will work for my centipede.

Alternative miss world started in 1972, its a contest not about beauty but about transformation. Costume wise absolute anything can go. Alternative miss world to most people would be seen as no normal. What is normal? Miss world? the beauty contest where everyone looks the same and sets a standard. Alternative miss world takes inspiration from miss world as it also has a day wear, swim wear and evening wear stages. Alternative miss world celebrates creativity and freedom of expression. Andrew Logan started alternative miss world after being inspired by the Crufts dog show and runs it still today. The event is held in Shakespeare's Globe in London. These event when ever Andrew feel like it, there has been about five main Alternative Miss World events in the last forty odd years.

Alternative miss world Costume ideas

I am aiming to produce Armour inspired by armour found in nature. the mean inspiration is centipedes. i may be not like the idea of centipedes but there natural armour is just what I'm looking for This is a Chinese Red headed centipede, which is one of the most deadly centipedes and there have been many cases where this centipede has been found in someones ear and is know to have been used as a torture method due to the hellish pain.

The Facts about this centipede alone has made me want to make the armour have the look of a centipede. I want to be able to capture the look of the centipede but with a slight dark theme, reflexing on the dark side of this creature. With how the body centipede seems to overlap, I want to capture this and recreate as the armour.

I have been thinking of making the Centipede as a cape, like it had been killed and made into a cape.
This idea came from how wolf and bear pelt used to be used as clothing and even made into capes to show skill/power.
